78:1 (Y. Ali) Concerning what are they disputing?

78:2 (Y. Ali) Concerning the Great News,
78:2 (Picktall) (It is) of the awful tidings,

78:19 (Picktall) And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates,

78:24 (Y. Ali) Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink,

78:25 (Y. Ali) Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold,
78:25 (Picktall) Save boiling water and a paralyzing cold:

78:26 (Picktall) Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds).

78:27 (Y. Ali) For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds),
78:27 (Picktall) For lo! they looked not for a reckoning;

78:28 (Y. Ali) But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false.
78:28 (Picktall) They called Our revelations false with strong denial.

78:29 (Y. Ali) And all things have We preserved on record.

78:30 (Y. Ali) "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment."
78:30 (Picktall) So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment.

78:31 (Y. Ali) Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart's) desires;

78:37 (Y. Ali) (From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, ((Allah)) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him.
78:37 (Picktall) Lord of the heavens and the earth, and (all) that is between them, the Beneficent; with Whom none can converse.

78:38 (Y. Ali) The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by ((Allah)) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right.
78:38 (Picktall) On the day when the angels and the Spirit stand arrayed, they speak not, saving him whom the Beneficent alloweth and who speaketh right.

78:39 (Y. Ali) That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord!
78:39 (Picktall) That is the True Day. So whoso will should seek recourse unto his Lord.

78:40 (Y. Ali) Verily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust!"
78:40 (Picktall) Lo! We warn you of a doom at hand, a day whereon a man will look on that which his own hands have sent before, and the disbeliever will cry: "Would that I were dust!"
