37:2 (Picktall) And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof

37:3 (Y. Ali) And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah.!
37:3 (Picktall) And those who read (the Word) for a reminder,

37:4 (Y. Ali) Verily, verily, your Allah is one!-

37:5 (Y. Ali) Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!

37:9 (Picktall) Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment;

37:30 (Picktall) We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk.

37:31 (Y. Ali) "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins).
37:31 (Picktall) Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom).

37:46 (Y. Ali) Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof),
37:46 (Picktall) White, delicious to the drinkers,

37:47 (Y. Ali) Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.
37:47 (Picktall) Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby.

37:48 (Y. Ali) And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty).
37:48 (Picktall) And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes,

37:49 (Picktall) (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich).

37:51 (Y. Ali) One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth),

37:52 (Picktall) Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)?

37:53 (Y. Ali) "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'"
37:53 (Picktall) Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones, can we (then) verily be brought to book?

37:54 (Picktall) He saith: Will ye look?

37:55 (Y. Ali) He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.

37:56 (Y. Ali) He said: "By Allah. thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition!
37:56 (Picktall) He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin,

37:57 (Picktall) And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom).

37:59 (Y. Ali) "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?"

37:62 (Y. Ali) Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?
37:62 (Picktall) Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqam?

37:63 (Y. Ali) For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers.
37:63 (Picktall) Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers.

37:64 (Y. Ali) For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire:
37:64 (Picktall) Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell

37:65 (Y. Ali) The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils:
37:65 (Picktall) Its crop is as it were the heads of devils

37:66 (Y. Ali) Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.
37:66 (Picktall) And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith.

37:67 (Y. Ali) Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water.
37:67 (Picktall) And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water

37:68 (Y. Ali) Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire.
37:68 (Picktall) And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell.

37:69 (Y. Ali) Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path;

37:70 (Y. Ali) So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps!
37:70 (Picktall) But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps.

37:71 (Y. Ali) And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;-
37:71 (Picktall) And verily most of the men of old went astray before them,

37:72 (Y. Ali) But We sent aforetime, among them, (apostles) to admonish them;-

37:73 (Y. Ali) Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),-
37:73 (Picktall) Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned,

37:74 (Y. Ali) Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah.

37:75 (Y. Ali) (In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer.
37:75 (Picktall) And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer

37:76 (Picktall) And We saved him and his household from the great distress,

37:98 (Y. Ali) (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!
37:98 (Picktall) And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost.

37:99 (Y. Ali) He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me!
37:99 (Picktall) And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me.

37:100 (Y. Ali) "O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!"
37:100 (Picktall) My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous.

37:101 (Y. Ali) So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.
37:101 (Picktall) So We gave him tidings of a gentle son.

37:102 (Y. Ali) Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"
37:102 (Picktall) And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast.

37:142 (Y. Ali) Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame.

37:145 (Y. Ali) But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness,
37:145 (Picktall) Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick;

37:146 (Y. Ali) And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind.
37:146 (Picktall) And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him;

37:148 (Y. Ali) And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.
37:148 (Picktall) And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while.

37:149 (Y. Ali) Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?-
37:149 (Picktall) Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons?

37:150 (Y. Ali) Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)?
37:150 (Picktall) Or created We the angels females while they were present?

37:151 (Y. Ali) Is it not that they say, from their own invention,
37:151 (Picktall) Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say:

37:152 (Y. Ali) "(Allah) has begotten children"? but they are liars!
37:152 (Picktall) Allah hath begotten. And lo! verily they tell a lie.

37:153 (Y. Ali) Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?
37:153 (Picktall) (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons

37:154 (Y. Ali) What is the matter with you? How judge ye?
37:154 (Picktall) What aileth you? How judge ye? �

37:155 (Y. Ali) Will ye not then receive admonition?
37:155 (Picktall) Will ye not then reflect?

37:156 (Y. Ali) Or have ye an authority manifest?
37:156 (Picktall) Or have ye a clear warrant?

37:157 (Y. Ali) Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!
37:157 (Picktall) Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful.

37:158 (Y. Ali) And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment- Seat)!
37:158 (Picktall) And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him).

37:159 (Y. Ali) Glory to Allah. (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)!

37:165 (Picktall) Lo! We, even We are they who set the ranks.

37:168 (Y. Ali) "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,

37:169 (Y. Ali) "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!"
37:169 (Picktall) We would be single-minded slaves of Allah.

37:170 (Y. Ali) But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know!
37:170 (Picktall) Yet (now that it is come) the, disbelieve therein: but they will come to know.

37:171 (Y. Ali) Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us),
37:171 (Picktall) And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn)

37:172 (Picktall) That they verily would be helped,

37:173 (Y. Ali) And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer.
37:173 (Picktall) And that Our host, they verily would be the victors.

37:174 (Picktall) So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile,

37:175 (Y. Ali) And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!

37:176 (Y. Ali) Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment?

37:177 (Picktall) But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned. �
