In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:1 (Y. Ali) I do call to witness this City;-
90:1 (Picktall) Nay, I swear by this cityTafseer Ibn Kasir
90:2 (Y. Ali) And thou art a freeman of this City;-
90:2 (Picktall) And thou art an indweller of this cityTafseer Ibn Kasir
90:3 (Y. Ali) And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;-
90:3 (Picktall) And the begetter and that which he begat,Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:4 (Y. Ali) Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.
90:4 (Picktall) We verily have created man in an atmosphere:Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:5 (Y. Ali) Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?
90:5 (Picktall) Thinketh he that none hath power over him?Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:6 (Y. Ali) He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!
90:6 (Picktall) And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth:Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:7 (Y. Ali) Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?
90:7 (Picktall) Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:8 (Y. Ali) Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-
90:8 (Picktall) Did We not assign unto him two eyesTafseer Ibn Kasir
90:9 (Y. Ali) And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-
90:9 (Picktall) And a tongue and two lips,Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:10 (Y. Ali) And shown him the two highways?
90:10 (Picktall) And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways?Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:11 (Y. Ali) But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.
90:11 (Picktall) But he hath not attempted the AscentTafseer Ibn Kasir
90:12 (Y. Ali) And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-
90:12 (Picktall) Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is!Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:13 (Y. Ali) (It is:) freeing the bondman;
90:13 (Picktall) (It is) to free a slave,Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:14 (Y. Ali) Or the giving of food in a day of privation
90:14 (Picktall) And to feed in the day of hungerTafseer Ibn Kasir
90:15 (Y. Ali) To the orphan with claims of relationship,
90:15 (Picktall) An orphan near of kin,Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:16 (Y. Ali) Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.
90:16 (Picktall) Or some poor wretch in misery,Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:17 (Y. Ali) Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.
90:17 (Picktall) And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and export one another to pity.Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:18 (Y. Ali) Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.
90:18 (Picktall) Their place will be on the right hand.Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:19 (Y. Ali) But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand.
90:19 (Picktall) But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand.Tafseer Ibn Kasir
90:20 (Y. Ali) On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).
